Lee discovered this fantastic holiday rental from The Modern House. The house, designed by London’s Meld Architecture, is nestled into a hillside in south-west France and has great green credentials (including solar panels for hot water, rainwater harvesting for toilets and irrigation, a green roof, and locally sourced materials and labour.) Also, I have to [...]

There’s definitely a ‘faceted’ trend going around. Even Habitat’s in on it! Below are ‘Carat’ desk lamps from Arihiro Miyake, ‘Rock’ hanging lamps by Diesel ‘Successful Living’ (yes, the clothing label), ‘Crease’ dishes from Voon Wong & Benson Saw, planters from Habitat… and Lady Gaga, of course. I know I’ve seen more products like these [...]

Some really nice work from illustrator and screen printer, Nicolas Saunders. Nicolas has done some really great work with clothing company Howie’s – including their catalogue and in-store graphics. He’s also worked on the set of the most recent Harry Potter film, creating products and labels… I’d love to see some of this stuff! Check [...]

I just stumbled on this barn-like, Hamptons house belonging to NYC designer, Rick Livingston. (I think this could safely be called rustic luxury?) The structure of this building is amazing – look at that roof and porch! Personally I’d add a bit more colour to the interior, but the shell of the place is just [...]

Glasgow-based textile designers mouse and bean make some exquisite hand-printed fabrics and cushions. Cushions aren’t an item that usually excite me – but these do! Check out their other designs here.

Sorry for lack of posts – I’ve been scouting for locations in the stunning Cornwall countryside. My hotel who promised me wifi were liars (‘strange, it doesn’t seem to be working.’) Posts to follow!

Mini House

I would be completely happy with a mini-holiday home like this – designed by super Swedish designer, Jonas Wagell. They can be customized to include solar power, running water and a sauna! Perfect for these penny pinching times.
