I should probably have a whole section here for barn conversions… it’s a mini-obsession that I hope others share!
This one is Pocknell Studio in Essex – originally a 14th century cathedral barn that was converted into a live/work space. The original, wooden framework has been preserved on the exterior – but the interior has been completely modernized.
On top of that – the work and living spaces are separated by am amzing rustric yet contemporary courtyard, hangar-type space. Basically it’s too difficult to describe – just look at the lovely pics, ok??
Available through location agency Tattersall Love.

Thank you for your kind words. Saling Barn is a Grade II* barn
built in around 1330! So its been around just a bit! We love it,
work in it and gently polish it but it is great when others appreciate it without even being here. So thanks and I hope others like it too.

Oh thanks so much, David. It’s truly a special place – and good to know it’s being looked after!
