On a grey day like today I dream of visiting architect Peter Zumthor’s Therme Vals in Vals, Switzerland. I’ve had my heart set on going here since I first read about it 10 years ago. The combination of glass, stone, water and the Swiss Alps is beyond idyllic. Anyone fancy a mini-break?

Oh, I visited in the summer and it was beautiful! My friend and I spent a whole day there, I recommend it so much. Zumthor and a day in the sun at a spa in the mountains… it can’t get much better – it was a perfect way to get away from the really hot weather in Zurich (and the typically rainy weather in the UK!)
just got back from a weekend at therme vals – first saw the place here on your blog! it was really amazing and so relaxing. it really does look exactly like the photos, with amazing design and light – and the view is incredible too.
thanks for finding this place for us!
Wow – I’m so envious! If you have any good pics feel free to share. Thanks!
they wont let you take photos in the spa – kind of annoying but makes sense (makes it a bit more relaxing/comfortable when you’re in your bathing suit without people taking photos!)
another aspect of therme vals is the attached hotel which they’ve kept in its original modern 70s style. but the rooms themselves are very clean, basic and modern.
can’t wait to go back!
