I came across this bit of Croatian paradise while flipping through Architectural Digest (which usually leaves me cold). I can’t decide what’s more impressive – the jaw-dropping setting or the house itself? The redesign of this 15th century stone cottage (which was originally crumbling to pieces) was done by New York architect Steven Harris and interiors and landscape designer Rees Roberts. It was clearly a labour of love, as everything had to be carried up the 156 steps by hand.
If only I had the money to invest in a Croatian hideaway 10 years ago!
