Nordic Bakery

I stumbled across the Nordic Bakery yesterday. All their products are based on genuine Nordic recipes and ingredients and the interior is charmingly furnished with various pieces by iconic Nordic designers such as Kaj Franck, Alvar Aalto and Ilmari Tapiovaara.

A perfect pit stop on a cold London day.

Find it .

Pizza East – Open for Business!

Pizza East (from the Soho House Group) has officially opened its doors.  The new venture is set in a warehouse space in the old Tea Building, right on Shoreditch High Street and Bethnal Green Road.

By all accounts the thin crust pizza is damn good… and the interior is clearly Shoreditch chic.   Oh – and they do takeaway.

Chez Bogato

If I was still a kid I’d want all my cakes and cookies to come from here.  (Yes, I’d have them shipped from France.)

I particularly like the wolf.  Mmm, cake.

Mast Brothers Chocolate

I’m loving this packaging from bean to bar ‘artisan chocolate makers’ Mast Brothers Chocolate.  Each bar is handmade using cocoa sourced from small farms and coops worldwide.  Through this highly crafted and considered process they hope to start a chocolate revolution (their words!)  Attention friends in NYC – buy me a bar (or two)!

in’t Veld Chocolate

My friend Lee took me to the in’t Veld chocolatier in Berlin this past weekend.  (Thanks Lee!)  This place has it down – a lovely shop, delicious chocolates… and fantastic packaging.  Each box comes with three perfectly sized thin bars. We sampled such delights as white chocolate with goats milk, salt and honey, goats milk chocolate with blood orange, another with Criollo cocoa from Indonesia and a surprisingly tasty one with elder berries.  The chocolate is divine – and the packaging equals the taste!

You can read more about in’t Veld in English here.
